Understanding Villainy: They say success is the best revenge…

…but your enemies’ failure is sweeter.
Many super-villains are already “successful” according to American social standards. Lex Luthor (Superman’s arch-nemesis) and Victor Von Doom (The Fantastic Four’s arch-nemesis) are excellent examples of this. Both are scientific super-geniuses, extremely wealthy, and powerful both socially and politically. (Lex Luthor became the President of the United States in 2001, and was also depicted as such in Superman: Red Son. Doom reigns over the European country Latveria.) All this “success” and they still devise plots of revenge on their respective archenemies. Yes, the only thing that will satisfy their insatiable appetite for revenge is the demise of those who are constantly in their way of complete domination…not to mention there is something all too sweet about crushing your enemies. On that note I leave you with a statement that my main man, Steve Believe, said to me while discussing this topic, “The failing of those that spite, disrespect, or flat out oppose you holds a specialness that can’t be found in success.”
